Eighth update: The Heirophant, Ace of Wands, 9 of Swords, Page of Pentacles

4 cards tonight! There's another card that will have to be delayed for a few days - mostly due to technical difficulties related to time moving in one direction and needing to do paying work first. %)

EchoElizabeth sent in her third card this week, and Nasubionna contributed the Heirophant card. She also has a solo tarot deck project, which you can view here: (http://www.nasubionna.net/tarot). In addition, Matthew and KillerBeautiful submitted their first cards. Awesome job, everyone!

status update

- The cards that have been submitted as of this morning will be posted tonight.

- If I cannot find a new mod within a week, I will be forced to completely restructure the way I've been handling submissions, and probably move to once-a-month posts of finished cards. I won't close this, since too many people would be affected. :)

SEEKING NEW MOD

I have to give up LJ for the forseeable future, and all of my communities are going up for adoption. This one, too.

Basically, you'd have to act much as an art director does. The new mod would have to show a high* level of proficiency in Photoshop, a high* level of proficiency in typography, know what a kern is, be reasonably polite, be capable of enforcing project requirements, and capable of resolving a dispute without turning it into a full-on flamewar. So far, I've been accepting any level of ability from illustrators so long as the applicant isn't off in left field with their subject, and they're willing to get a drawing done sometime during a two-month timeframe. I can provide the card templates and fonts, and bring the new mod up to speed on what's what.

*I have to be able to believe that a moderately okay GD firm would consider hiring you.

This offer is not open to anyone who's missed their deadline for this community. (If you used your extension and got it in before your extension ended, you are eligible.)

If you're waiting for me to get back to you with something, ~~I've caught up on all the sign ups~~, but I'm a little paranoid I missed a finished card somewhere.

If you haven't heard back from me about a finished card, could you let me know?

Ah, OK, I also remembered that someone wanted Ron as the Knight of Swords. My eyes are starting to cross, so I'm going to track that down later. Consider that subject nabbed, though.

Rules clarifications, &c.

OK, I've been going through the latest round of submissions, and I'm starting to have to deal with the issues of Extensions and Missed Deadlines, and I thought writing things down would be a bit of a help. :)

You can have ONE one-week extension once for one card no matter how many cards you do.

- You can claim this at will, but use it wisely. You only get one, even if you end up doing several cards.

Additionally, I'd like to reward the people that have been courteous enough to tell me that there's a problem before their art comes due, so I am going to make the rules more lenient for them. This will apply to those who have already contacted me as well as those who contact me in the future.

If you contact me about not making your deadline before your piece is due (the day of counts)

- Your suspension period will be reduced to two months, not four. It will start from the date you give up your piece, not your due date. This is because the cards are going much faster than I thought they would, and a four-month suspension could prevent you from ever signing up a second time.
- If you complete your piece during your suspension period AND that particular card remains unclaimed, you may turn it in and have it marked as completed. (If someone has claimed your card in the meantime, you won't be able to do this). You will still have to wait until your suspension is up to claim a new one.

For example: imagine your due date is 8 March, and you tell me on 5 March that you won't make it. Your suspension period ends on 5 May. Then on 2 April, you get some free time and finish your card. When you check the comm, you see your card's still up for grabs and you turn it in. Your suspension period still ends on 5 May.

If you don't contact me about not making your deadline before your piece is due

- I'm not going to make a scene or chase after you. I'm just going to add your card back to the "available" list.
- You will not be able to turn your art in during your suspension period. You'll have to risk the full 4-month wait.

For example: Your due date is 8 March, and it comes and goes without a peep from you. I put your card back on the available list, and your suspension ends on 8 July. If you finish your art on 2 April, I won't accept it. You will have to wait until 8 July to see if anyone took your card or not. Assuming that was the first deadline you missed, of course.

If you miss two deadlines:

- It's only fandom, and real life can strike at any time. However, life striking twice means you probably shouldn't be messing about with art challenges. :/ Sorry, but there it is.

(PS. It's been pointed out that this post sounds a little frustrated, but that's not you guys. It's leftover from something else. Sorry. :/ You guys are lovely. :-*)

(Son of PS: "suspension period" in not a phrase I used in the original rules, but I'm referring to the rule about not being able to sign up for a card for four months if you miss a deadline.)
